WORLD FIRST! From office clerk to combat pilot, Major Deanna Brasseur's career in the Canadian Forces has been both historic and unique. Truly an international aviation pioneer, Deanna Brasseur was one of three women to earn their wings as pilots in the Canadian military in 1981. Eight years later she became one of only two female pilots in the world to fly the highly sophisticated, supersonic, CF18 fighter aircraft. Featured as an "Outstanding Canadian" in MacLean's Magazine December 1998 Honor Roll Special Edition; selected as Success Motivation International Inc., 1998 World Client of the Year Award for Personal Achievement; listed in the 1999 Edition of Who's Who in Canada; and inducted as a Member of the "Order of Canada" in February, 1999.Since Deanna Marie Brasseur,'s first presentation in 1982, Deanna Brasseur has shared the unique learning and experience of her life's journey with literally thousands of Canadians. In 1994 she retired from the Military to write "Achieve It: A PersonaI Success Journal and establish Unlimited Horizons, a professional speaking, personal coaching and training business committed to 'unlocking the magnificence within each and everyone' through teaching the physiology and psychology of excellence.
Major (Retired) Deanna Marie Brasseur, CM CD, continues "living on the edge" and striving to "Be all that she can be!" Today With her extensive background in leadership, organization, personnel management and supervision, Dee established her own business, Unlimited Horizons. A Professional Motivational Speaker as well as a Certified Trainer and Master Practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming, Dee continues achieving, educating and consulting as a Corporate and Personal Performance Coach.
Adding to her list of accomplishments, she has become a writer, co-author of "Achieve It! A Personal Success Journal" and contributing author to "Speaking of Flying" Personal Tales of Heroism, Humor, Talent and Terror from 44 Unique Aviators. As a result of the successful endeavors and positive experiences of the 1996 "Crazy Canards" team, the Canadian Precision Flying Association (CPFA) was subsequently incorporated and granted charitable status by Revenue Canada in mid-July 1998. The Association's mandate is to continue promoting the sport of Precision Flying in Canada by building on and utilizing the knowledge gained by participating in Fort Worth, Texas.
On 3 February, 1999, at a ceremony held at Rideau Hall, Deanna Marie Brasseur was invested as a Member of the Order of Canada by His Excellency the Right Honorable Romeo LeBlanc, Governor General of Canada. Considered the keystone of the Canadian system of honors, the Order of Canada pays tribute to Canadians who exemplify the highest quality of citizenship and whose contributions enrich the lives of their contemporaries.
