François, who is still in his early 20s, has trained with and competed against his older brother Charles for the past ten years.
 
Known for his lightning speed and intelligent strategy, François added considerable depth to the national short track team that won the Team Relay in one of the most dramatic and lively Canadian sport events in history.
 
With immense potential and his brightest years in the sport still to come, the younger Hamelin has come into his own by adding one really important piece to his growing resume – Olympic Champion.  Most recently Francois has also aligned with KidSport Canada as an ambassador to help remove the financial barriers required to participate in organized sport.
